Alumni Ventures (AV), one of the world’s most active venture capital firms, was proud to interview Aalo Atomics CEO Matt Loszak for a recent episode of the firm’s Tech Optimist podcast. Aalo is aiming to reshape the energy landscape with its innovative nuclear reactor designs that promise enhanced safety and efficiency.

“Alumni Ventures is committed to supporting technologies that can significantly impact the future,” said Drew Wandzilak, an Associate with AV’s US Strategic Tech Fund who hosted the conversation with Loszak. “We believe Aalo Atomics is developing some of the most promising nuclear energy solutions in the industry, and we are proud to amplify their vision of safer, more efficient power.”

Aalo Atomics is at the forefront of the nuclear industry’s transformation, developing cutting-edge reactors designed to be both inherently safe and cost-effective. These reactors are compact and powerful, fitting within a shipping container yet capable of powering thousands of homes. This breakthrough addresses critical challenges in the energy sector, offering a reliable, scalable, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional power sources.

In April 2023, Aalo Atomics announced a $6.26 million financing round led by Fifty Years, with participation by Valor Equity Partners and angel investors. The funding will help accelerate the company’s progress towards commercializing their technology and support ongoing research and development, as well as the construction of their first commercial reactors.

“We are excited about the possibilities that this new funding will unlock,” said Loszak. “Our technology not only supports global decarbonization efforts, but also provides a scalable energy solution that could transform power consumption worldwide.”

Alumni Ventures offers accredited individuals access to professional-grade venture capital, a key asset class missing from the portfolios of many sophisticated investors. Since 2014, AV has raised $1.3+ billion from 10,000+ investors and backed 1,300+ unique portfolio companies. AV is a top 20 venture firm in North America according to CB Insights, as well as the #1 most active venture firm in the U.S., and #3 most active in the world, according to PitchBook’s 2022 and 2023 rankings. AV has won awards from Inc. Magazine, Fast Company, Benzinga, and the US FinTech Awards.
